Charles Ranaboldo continues to work as a general and venous surgeon both within the NHS and independent sector. He has in addition extensive management and clinical governance experience across British healthcare.
He graduated from Southampton University in 1984, and then underwent specialist surgical training throughout the south of England, Europe, USA and South Africa. His higher degree was based around medical informatics and the value of expert systems, culminating in the award of Master of Surgery in 1997. He was appointed to a substantive NHS consultant post in 1996 as a general and vascular surgeon, building a successful NHS vascular surgical service over the subsequent 10 years.
In parallel he developed an interest in independent and international healthcare, taking on roles in clinical governance, patient safety and management. In 2012 he was approached to become Group Medical Director for an Independent Healthcare group, a post that he still holds. He has periodically sat on Royal College of Surgeons Committees
Currently provides medical leadership and advice on all professional issues relating to medical practice, including recruitment and selection criteria, practising privileges, appraisal, professional development, performance issues and related clinical governance management.
