I qualified in 1992 from University of Calcutta, India and did my basic surgical training in Yorkshire region, following the completion of FRCS I was a research fellow at the Academic surgical unit at Hull and published on MRI breast and sentinel node biopsy. I underwent higher surgical training in the North West deanery (1998-2004) working at the breast unit at Nightingale Centre and Christies Hospital. I was a National Oncoplastic fellow at the breast unit at Sheffield (2003-2004). After finishing my training I took up a consultant post at Salford Royal Foundation trust and moved to my present job in 2015. I specialise in breast cancer and reconstructive surgery. I have taught in and organised courses in implant based reconstruction. I have led quality improvement projects and published book chapters. I have given lectures internationally in places including Singapore, India and Bangladesh. I am a council member of Asian Society of Mastology (ASOMA). I am interested in teaching and in the past has been foundation tutor, communication skills tutor in Manchester medical school, MCh Oncoplastic breast surgery, examiner for ESSO breast examination and currently the lead for trainees in our breast unit.
My hobbies include photography and travelling.
