Will Hawkins graduated from Birmingham University and continued his training in the West Midlands, with subsequent fellowships in Taunton and Sydney, Australia.  He has been a Consultant Upper GI/Bariatric Surgeon based at St Richard’s Hospital in Chichester, part of University Sussex Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, since 2013.  His Bariatric practice is among the busiest in the NHS since his appointment.

Will has a career interest in education, holding a number of local, regional and national roles in this area throughout his training and consultant career.  He is currently the Training Programme Director for General Surgery in HEKSS and the Educational Supervisor for the St Richard’s Senior Clinical Fellowship in Bariatric Surgery.  He is also the section editor for the ‘Training, Reporting and Practice in Bariatric Surgery’ section of the second edition of Obesity, Bariatric and Metabolic Surgery – A Practical Guide.

Will is a member of the British Obesity and Metabolic Surgery Society (BOMSS) Patient Safety Committee and sits on the CORESS Advisory Board on behalf of BOMSS.
